RESOLUTION HJR 1007 |
| THIS OFFICIAL COPY OF THE HOUSE JOURNAL PROVES DOUGLAS BRUCE DID NOT VOTE AGAINST VETERANS, AS HIS POLITICAL OPPONENTS CLAIMED. |

THE BOY BEHIND A CAPITOL IDEA |
| Green, D-Golden, said of someone so young calling her about state business. “I gave him a little job. I told him I wanted to get a petition going ... I wanted to get some signatures on the petition.” |

Resolutions are nice, but they’re not real support |
| As an Iraq war veteran, I would like to commend Rep. Douglas Bruce for his stand against symbolic resolutions and other wastes of the Legislature`s time. |

GOP Reaction to Vote Pure Grandstanding |
| State House Minority Leader Mike May`s grandstanding and hysterical reaction, kicking Rep. Douglas Bruce off the military committee, is despicable. |

Lawmakers can honor vets by working on their behalf |
| If our distinguished legislators in Denver really want to show true patriotism and concern for military people, they wouldn’t waste valuable time declaring Bruce a traitor and spoiler over an empty resolution. Instead, they should actively fight for the rightfully earned benefits of veterans and military retires in Colorado. |

Email from Ed Vigil |
| As a Veteran who fought in the jungles of Viet Nam and Cambodia, I want to thank you for the effort you have placed on helping us veterans. |

Email from Anson Rohr |
| As a Desert Storm veteran, I fully support Rep. Douglas Bruce. He is absolutely correct that the business of the legislature is protecting the interests of the people of Colorado, not empty statements of "support" from legislators who lie about their professed love of the military. |

You`re fired, Rep. Bruce (2nd op-ed) |
| Rep. May, the General Assembly isn`t your high school student council. It`s not a popularity contest, in which the self-styled cool kids conquer the nerds. It`s government, where politicians get to oppose symbolic fashion statements. |
| 02/15/2008 |
Bruce simply wants to stick to important issues |
| I don`t need a ceremonial legislature — I want someone who understands my priorities and sticks to the issues. |
| 02/15/2008 |
Rep. Bruce and the feel-good mob |
| Like most Americans, Bruce respects and admires the brave men and women who work in our military. What he doesn`t like are resolutions that serve no purpose other than validating groupthink. |

Anti-turtle Vote (1st op-ed) |
| It’s too bad Bruce stood alone, and that other legislators weren’t willing to give students a very important lesson: Frivolous requests for state sanction of turtles, bugs and songs should always be dismissed. |
