My friends, you have a clear choice today—

--the man who WROTE the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights, or those who try to weaken it.

--the man who works to keep your taxes low, or those who try to raise them.

--the man who favors balanced budgets, or those who would impose more debt.

--the man who protects your right to petition, or those who defend the status quo.

--the man who details where to CUT spending, or those who don’t.

--the man who promotes our pro-life mission, or those who don’t.

--the man who resists the gay agenda on principle, or those who don’t.

--the man who is backed by TWO firearms groups, or those who aren’t.

--the man who gets things DONE, or those who won’t.

My friends, I am that man--the man endorsed by more truly conservative elected officials than ALL other candidates combined.

Yes, I am faulted for being too blunt. When did candor cease to be a virtue?

Yes, I am criticized for being too outspoken. When did silence ever reap reform?

Yes, I am disparaged for being too strong. When did weakness ever bring success?

Now I admit, in my intense focus on serving the public interest, I have sometimes been brusque. If I have offended anyone here, I apologize. It was unintentional. I’m only human, and God isn’t finished with me yet.

But as for the absurd claim that I am some kind of “wild man,” hey, I’ve been here over two hours and I haven’t broken anything yet!

The special interests SAY I would be ineffective. But why would they care? What they really fear is that I will continue to succeed, and will challenge their insider deals...and I will.

Just as my single-minded persistence finally produced TABOR, together we can vote for a vision of what government should be. My friends, I HAVE that vision, and I need your help to achieve it.

Our candidate must not bring blandness, when we need boldness.

He must not seek safety, when we crave courage.

He must not pick popularity, when we value victory.

Nor should we prefer personality over policy, charm over character, or style over substance.

I make only three promises to you—1) I will ALWAYS tell you the truth; “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” 2) I will ALWAYS be open and responsive to your communications. 3) I will NEVER vote to raise your taxes, put your family into debt, or take away your tax refunds.

Friends, this is OUR time, OUR place, OUR chance to reform OUR government-- to make it a model for America--just like the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights--to PROVE that we are worthy of, and loyal to, our rich heritage—and that, like the Founding Fathers, we CAN secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. It is in that spirit, and towards that end, that I humbly ask for your vote.

Thank you.
